The PDX Area Sheltie November Meetup

Let's take our walk as soon as we gather, and when we're done, we'll meet at Sheltier #1 unless it is occupied, and if so, we'll move on to find #2 and so on until we find an empty one. I would like to do a small silent auction on a few doggie items this month. One is a beautiful mat with a sheltie on it. There will be some other useful dog and people things as well, and this way we can do some good for other shelties not as fortunate as our own. Money will be donated to Barbara Aulbach who runs sheltie rescue for the state of Oregon. Barbara, for those of you who do not know her, lives up in the hills above Scappoose, and besides running her own sheltie kennel, takes in shelties that have been rescued one way or another. She feeds and vets them if they need medical attention, bathes and grooms them, and then waits for the right people to come in search of these special dogs. Some have lost elderly owners, some are strays, but they are purebreds who need us as much as we need them. A visit to Barbara's Caledon Kennels is an unforgettable esperience, and meeting the dogs that need homes is always touching. Barbara is an expert breeder and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association. She recently judged the Futurity at the ASSA Nationals in Perry, GA. So turn in your cans and get a little change, or save a few bucks for this worthy cause, and I will make sure every penny gets to Barbara with a note telling her about our super new sheltie group. In the meantime, brush up your "dampened" sheltie every day or two. You'll be amazed at how nice that coat will begin to look. By the time we meet in November, your dog's coat will be glowing with good health. Oh, yeah, and don't be bad like me and forget to brush your dog's teeth. I try for at least 2 times a week! Make it a game, and use a good dog toothpaste. You can add a year or two to your dog's life by taking good care of its teeth. I will also try to bring some photos showing the week-to-week growth of puppies since I now have some pretty good models here at home. It is amazing!
