T'ai Chi Chuan is a system of movement, meditation, and self defense from ancient Chinese culture. The T'ai Chi form consists of a sequence of postures strung together in smooth, slow, continuous movement. The benefits of T'ai Chi are realized on several levels: as a physical exercise for fitness, health, and stress relief, as a moving meditation, as a martial art, and as a spiritual practice. Perhaps the most popular style of T'ai Chi today is the Yang Style which comes to us through the teaching of Professor Cheng Man-Ching. Professor Cheng felt that the historically closely guarded secrets of T'ai Chi should be available to all. Cheng brought his T'ai Chi to the West and gave his senior student, Patrick Watson, the mission of founding the School of T'ai Chi Chuan in order to train teachers and to spread T'ai Chi. Instructor Miriam Cooper, an acupuncturist and instructor with the international School of T'ai Chi Chuan, has over 20 years experience teaching T'ai Chi, treating patients with Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, and leading various healing workshops.
