Kung Fu & Tai Chi with Bob Cook (Basalt Tai Chi & Kung Fu with Bob Cook)

These Friday evening classes in Basalt offer a range of study which includes both the internal and external forms of Kung Fu. The 7:30 p.m. class provides an introduction to Tai Chi, one of the three internal Chinese martial arts forms. In graceful dancelike movements, physical conditioning and non-aggressive self defense techniques are demonstrated. Taoist breathing, meditation, stretching, strengthening and spinal energy Chi Gung methods are illustrated to open the body’s energy gates for maximum health and longevity. Participants can join at any time and work at their own pace to achieve optimum results. As students develop their skills, they begin to learn other internal Kung Fu forms such as Bagua and Tsing I along with some of the external forms. At any time, student may join the intermediate/advanced class (from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) for more intensive study. During this 1 1/2 hour class, a wide range of Kung Fu forms are taught including Wing Chun, Tiger Crane, Choy Lee Fut, Praying Mantis & others. Students also learn the basic punching and kicking sets as well as Qigong internal energy development and continued study of the internal forms.
