The fine acoustics of a historic venue will come alive when the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra performs in the Al. Ringling Theatre on Saturday, February 25th.This performance in our Lively Arts Series starts at 7:30 pm and tickets are $24 for adults, $18 for students and seniors, and $12 for youth. The program will feature violin soloist Alexander Sitkovetsky performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major. American Players Theatre actor James Ridge will be on stage to narrate Benjamin Britten's "Night Mail." Also featured in this masterworks concert will be Beethoven's beloved Symphony No. 6, the Pastoral Symphony.

Select musicians from the WCO will be presenting a short educational program based on this concert for area schools on Friday, February 24th at 10am.

British violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky was born in Moscow in 1983 into a family with a long musical tradition. At the age of eight Mr. Sitkovetsky made his debut as a soloist with the chamber orchestra in Montpellier, France. He has performed at many noted concert halls in Europe and around the world, and also with many international music festivals. The classical music magazine Gramophone stated that "Sitkovetsky has a terrific technique to be sure, but his confident, entirely natural musicianship, is what sets him apart from the crowd." Besides being a noted soloist, Mr. Sitkovetsky is also a composer.

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO), led by Maestro Andrew Sewell, is a vibrant and thriving professional orchestra dedicated to connecting its audiences to the power of music. The WCO performs approximately 25 concerts per year, including Concerts on the Square®, Masterworks, Holiday Pops, Handel's Messiah, Youth Concerts, and other performances across the state.

This performance is sponsored by Boardman & Clark LLC, with additional support from Culvers. Support for the Lively Arts Series comes from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Tickets can be purchased online at www.alringling.com, or at the Al. Ringling Theatre Box Office or by calling 608-356-8864. Al. Ringling Theatre Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a center for the arts, culture, and entertainment in a unique historic theatre palace.
