EVENT DETAILS
The Summer of Even More Irresponsible Science

Bigger bangs. More contraptions. Splashier splats. It’s The Summer of Even More Irresponsible Science and it’s here Memorial Day to Labor Day. Like last summer but even better, come watch us blow things up, create crazy chemistry, drop stuff off the roof, build things and destroy them and all the other things they always tell you not to try at home. Inside and out, bottom to top, all around the Science Center, come join the fun as we get into to some squishy, gushing, exploding summertime fun.

What happens when you drop melons and milk jugs off the roof of our building to the plaza below? Have you ever wondered how much of an explosion you can create with a block of dry ice, hundreds and hundreds of ping pong balls and a metal trash can? How far can a rubber chickens travel when you have the help of gigantic slingshot? Find out during the Summer of Even More Irresponsible Science where everything goes and chaos rules.

See a giant column of bubbles as it rises in the air then erupts in flame. Watch as the power of the sun is harnessed to instantly melt everything from pocket change to action figures. Combine dairy products and liquid nitrogen to make tasty ice cream you can eat. Stand on a light bulb without crushing it.

Throughout your visit take part in activities that test the limits of reason with the Science Center’s own mayhem-inducing team of science specialists. Join wacky workshops that promise hands-on fun. Look for Pop Up Science activities throughout the building where we examine what makes things work.

The Summer of Even More Irresponsible Science promises to be the highlight of your school break with a chance to see our cool new toilet paper cannon, a demonstration we call Elephant Toothpaste, and a whole lot more. Oh, and keep an eye out for those Science Ninjas.

Cost: Free - with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center.
