Foundation and illustration faculty member Warren Linn and chair of painting Barry Nemett will give a joint presentation about the role of sketchbooks in their art, including some of their more finished pieces grown out of sketching. After the talk, students and faculty can display their own sketchbooks or journals for a discussion and Q & A.

Linn’s process in his collages, paintings, and commissioned illustrative work entails redrawing and collaging images from journals and sketchbooks. He will discuss both visual journalism and the developmental process during this lecture.

Nemett will discuss the vital role drawing, in general, and working in sketchbooks, in particular, play in his art.

The Monday Artist at Noon Lecture Series is organized by MICA's drawing, general fine arts, painting, and printmaking Senior Thesis program.
