Description
The Flag House is a National Historic Landmark and the site where Mary Pickersgill lived and sewed the original Star-Spangled Banner flag that flew over Fort McHenry in the War of 1812. The Star-Spangled Banner Museum houses exhibits on the history of the American Flag, Mary Pickersgill and the War of 1812. The centerpiece of the Museum is the Great Flag Window, a 30 X 42 foot glass flag that is the same size, color and design of the original Star-Spangled Banner made by Mary Pickersgill in the adjacent Flag House. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
