Description
I hope everyone can put Saturday, October 18th at 10 AM down in their calenders to participate in the walk for Farm Sanctuary to raise lots of money for them---especially after this latest rescue of pigs from the floods in Iowa. I recently had the chance while at the Hoe Down to see the pigs (mostly gestation crate sows left to die). Besides the 69 the rescue workers were able to save (including a dozen babies born on the levi), three litters have been born so far at the farm making the total of pigs they have taken in around 100! I had the amazing opportunity to interact with these adorable piglets and their brave mamas. I've attached some photos. Many of the babies were premature and needed a lot of help from Cornell University. Many pigs had skin burns and other problems. Farm Sanctuary medical bills are through the roof and I am passionate about trying to raise as much money as possible. If you can walk, there are two easy ways to register and pay the $15 registration fee (includes a T-Shirt for the walk). 1. Through me--just email or call and I'll get you registration material in the mail. 2. Online-go to www.firstgiving.com/farmsanctuary and register online and pay with a bank card or credit card. Registering this way enables people to sponsor you online as well as hand you checks and cash. The walk will be about 3 miles (5K) and start at the public parking lot near Mr. Chan's--convenient, huh? This way we can have lunch there afterwords. Time: Registration starts at 9:00 a.m., the actual walk will start at 10 a.m., come early to socialize and enjoy light breakfast fare! Location: Sherwood Parking Lot on Sherwood Avenue Please don't hesitate to call with any questions!! For The Animals, Jamie Cohen jamie711@comcast.net Phone: 443-310-4795
