Boris Blacher’s Concertante Musik offers a scintillating interplay of solo instruments, and then Gustav Mahler serenely beautiful “Adagietto” from his Symphony No. 5 will set the stage for Mendelssohn’s own Fifth Symphony, the “Reformation.”
