Capitol City Comedy Club

While there are many comedy clubs in Austin (and plenty of places that showcase stand-up), none have become more of an Austin institution than the Capitol City Comedy Club. Located on off of Anderson Square just west of the 183 freeway, the Capitol City Comedy Club schedules some of the biggest comedians in the country, as well as local up-and-comers. In addition to stellar headlining performers, the comedy club also features events like open mic nights and the club's signature comedy show, Punch!.

Opened in 1985, the Capitol City Comedy Club has not only provided Austinians with a great venue for stand-up comedy, but also a place for all kinds of scheduled comedians to hone their craft. A full menu of American and Southwestern cuisine is offered alongside premium drinks to give the stand-up performances a "dinner and a show" feel that so many people love. On most Tuesday nights, the Capitol sells dozens of tickets to the hit comedy show, Punch, which combines elements of stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy to create a unique show that has become hugely popular.
