Terminology Practice and Business Ethics for Court Interpreters

This TDLR-approved* workshop will feature 3 hours of ethics training and 5 hours of terminology training and practice. TDLR-licensed court interpreters will receive 8 hours of CE credit, enabling them to fulfill their entire continuing education requirement for the year.

Code of Professional Conduct in Court Interpreting will explore business ethics and review the nine cannons of the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility for Texas court interpreters.

Terminology Practice will focus on terminology found in forms and other materials that court interpreters may be called upon to sight translate, with plenty of opportunity for discussion and practice.

The workshop will be conducted in English and will be non-language-specific, although some Spanish terminology will be discussed.

The workshop is intended mainly for court interpreters licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) who are seeking to fulfill their TDLR continuing education requirement, but will also provide excellent training for interpreters preparing to take the TDLR licensing exam

* TDLR course nos. 8274 and 8874. Provider: Berkana Language Center, Provider no. 1345.

Participants licensed by TDLR will earn 8 continuing education hours.

Participants certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) will earn 8 continuing education points.
