About the class: Spinning is for all levels! If it is your first time, show up a few minutes early so we can ensure your bike is fitted properly. In this 45-55 minute class you will get rolling with a warm-up followed by a tough, varied, dynamic workout with a few minutes to cool down and stretch at the end. The Spinning program uses the following Core Movements as basis for everything we do. The basic premise? We do nothing on the Spinner bike that you wouldn't do on the road. You control the intensity and resistance level. Bring a water bottle and a towel. Flywheel Fitness has Spinner Elite bikes with dual-sided SPD platform pedals - you can use SPD compatible clips, OR just regular shoes. About the teacher: Michael McCarty is a certified Spin instructor, an avid cyclist and triathlete. His cycling experience began at an early age on Christmas day with a Schwinn Stingray. This lead to BMX and eventually road racing. Michael began mountain biking while attending the University of Colorado. When he returned to Texas he competed in the DORBA series, achieving a few top 10 finishes. In 2002 he did his first triathlon with his younger brother and father and he was hooked. Michael placed first in his age group in the 2009 Dilloman Triathlon. He is an avid outdoorsman and swimmer and currently coaches endurance cyclists and triathletes.
When Michael is not coaching Spin classes you will likely find him cycling around Austin, swimming in Barton Springs, camping at Paleface, or running his beloved Redbone Coonhound, Allez, around Lady Bird Lake.
