ItÂ’s a place where art meets the everyday life of common America, and it has produced some of the most distinctive American art ever. The tradition of that region has produced the music of Woody Guthrie. It provided the root system for the genius of Merle Haggard. It is the tradition of Bob Childers, a Red Dirt icon, who learned how to present the forgettable man unforgettably, and itÂ’s the tradition that can be heard in the songs of Jason Boland. BLEU EDMONDSON: Began writing songs at the age of nineteen, got his first guitar on his 21st birthday and formed a band at twenty-two. Now 30, Bleu has not looked back since as he and the Bleu Edmondson Band have sold tens of thousands of records and amassed a rabid fan base on the hot Texas music scene. JOSH ABBOTT BAND Pat Green, Cory Morrow, Wade Bowen, Ryan James...and now, the Josh Abbott Band. Some of the best artists in Texas country music have gotten there start in the West Texas town of Lubbock while attending Texas Tech University, and the next in line for greatness is no different. Formed in early 2006, JAB was founded by fraternity brothers: Josh Abbott, Austin Davis, Drew Hurt, and Neel Huey. After playing mostly acoustic open mic night shows at The Blue Light, Josh and Austin called on Drew and Neel to give the band a rhythm section.
