Austin Under 40 Awards Committee and Leadership Austin Co-host Kickoff Happy Hour

Join the Austin Under 40 Awards Committee (Au40) and Leadership Austin at The Belmont, November 19th from 6-8 pm to kick off the opening for nominations for the 12th annual Austin Under 40 Awards. Sponsored by ABC Bank, this event will be a great opportunity to learn about the Au40 Awards nominations process and network with young professionals from around Central Texas. Complementary appetizers and half-price drink specials will be provided by The Belmont.

The Austin Under 40 Awards event was founded in 1997 by the Young Men's Business League and the Young Women's Alliance to recognize young men and women in Austin who excel in their professional fields and make considerable contributions to their communities. Since the inception of Au40 by the Young Men's Business League (YMBL) and the Young Women's Alliance (YWA), Au40 event sponsors and attendees have contributed more than $265,000 to the Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps and the YWA Foundation. In 2009 alone, Au40 raised over $65,000. The Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps are overnight camps that have helped thousands of disadvantaged children develop life skills and teamwork, while providing traditional outdoor activities, all free of charge. These children also receive mentoring and tutoring year-round. The YWA Foundation has awarded $62,500 over the past five years in scholarships to women enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs as well as grants to organizations dedicated to empowering, educating, and enriching the lives of young members of our community. The 12th Annual Au40 Awards will be March 6, 2010 at the AT&T Executive Center.
