Violinist Robert McDuffie is a Grammy nominated artist whose acclaimed recordings for the Telarc label include violin concertos of Mendelssohn, Bruch, Adams, Glass, Barber and Rózsa. Mr. McDuffie will perform the Violin Concerto of Miklós Rózsa with the Austin Symphony on this concert.
After a brief intermission, Maestro Bay returns to conduct Johannes Brahms Symphony No. 4 in E Minor. Brahms wrote four symphonies, massive in structure, and all the result of long periods of work and revision.
Concertgoers can enjoy &147;Concert Conversations&148; with Bob Buckalew at 7:10 p.m. in the concert hall. These discussions provide an in-depth look at the composers and works being performed, including commentary on the social climate in which they were composed.
