Bangladesh was born in October of 2005 after the breakup of a local metal act known as Darling Sinister. Following the demise of the band, members Shaun, John and Jay continued working together to take their music to a new level. As the new songs began to be worked out they soon discovered that, in the absence of creative power struggles, their melodies had grown stronger, the music more complex and the overall feel was much heavier and intense than in the previous band. The most important thing missing at that point was a drummer that could bring to the table an onslaught of beats and rhythms that could compliment the intensity these three members had in mind. Jay had recommended his friend Ross and invited him to audition. Ross was playing drums for a punk band called The Box Cutters at the time in addition to various session gigs. He also was a familiar face because he worked at the bands rehearsal space. Being the first drummer to audition for the band it was unlikely that he would make the cut. Within the first few minutes of his warm up the three knew that hed be offered the job if he wanted it. After learning and jamming through about three songs (a total of 35 minutes) Ross had ferociously proven that he was going to be the drummer for this band and was offered the position on the spot. The final step in the puzzle was finding a vocalist. The band spent the next 6 months writing music and auditioning vocalists, a very frustrating experience with being off the road and off the stage. The now four members knew what they were looking for even though they couldnt put it into words. They wanted someone to come in and make them feel the same way they did when Ross came in, like nothing could get in the way of what was to come! Ross recommended JC who was, at that time, singing in a band called As We Suffer, formerly Transparency. Darling Sinister had played with Transparency on at least one occasion and ex-members of DS were reluctant about working with JC based on his sound with Transparency, especially after going through almost 15 vocalists who just didnt get it. JC was given a date to come in and audition. He walked in and completely blew the band away! The intensity coming from him was nothing short of infectious and so sincere that after a few more sessions with him he was offered a permanent position in the band. The four members had already agreed on the name Bangladesh before JC had joined the band because initially it just sounded cool. However, after looking into the country the band realized that there were many parallels between the history of Bangladesh and the message they were trying to get across in their music. The band never wanted to be just another metal act in a sea of mediocrity. They not only wanted to raise the bar for what was expected from a local band, they truly wanted to stand for something. All of the members have worked through overcoming major loss over the last year. Some have lost friends and loved ones to drugs, addiction, failed relationships, disease in addition to experiencing some major life setbacks. In order to overcome these struggles everyone in this band has had to remove and separate himself from someone or something that was keeping him down or holding him back physically or emotionally. Together they've been a support system through the music they create. The message of Bangladesh is simple, Rise up against and separate yourself from everything keeping you from reaching your fullest potential. Everything about Bangladesh embodies this concept. It is heartfelt sincerity served up with an intensity that simply cant be matched. This is the new revolution of Texas Metal.
