      13th: Community Films and Conversations

Powerful films can transport, challenge, and in many cases, open the mind to new ideas, perspectives and greater learning.Community Films and Conversations consists of 3 films over 3 months that are compelling to watch, that tell important stories and that inspire people to learn more and prompt conversations. Moderators and special guests are selected based on the subject matter of each film and aim to engage the audience in meaningful dialogues about current issues related to diversity and social justice. Short receptions follow in the Museum Café and guests are invited to see related exhibitions on view. In the film 13th, take an in-depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation’s history of inequality. After the film, view the companion exhibition, Art on the Inside. The Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project is hosting the film, with Kyes Stevens, founder and director of the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Program at Auburn University as moderator.
