A Tale of Two Cities at Alan Avery Art Company
A Tale of Two Cities presents two artists with two urban perspectives. Bryce Hammond’s work has always included the rougher side of city life - gritty, graffitied interiors and exteriors of dilapidated studios and buildings. His new work continues in this vein but delves deeper into the unspoken narrative. Hammond’s silent spaces are left up to the viewer to interpret, with only the varied layers of paint to guide them.
The work of Maxx Morgan often gives the viewer a similar sense of solitude, his scenes either being absent or only including glimpses of figures. Yet Morgan’s sleek paintings focus on the quick-paced world of city nightlife. The dichotomy between the action and contemplation that occurs in his night landscapes presents an environment that can be both oddly beautiful and unnerving.
Alan Avery Art Company is located at 315 East Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. Hours of operation are Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., also by appointment. www.alanaveryartcompany.com
