Thursdays: Free!

Opening Reception: Friday, January 13 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Artist Talk: Saturday, Janaury 14 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The works in this exhibition look at several artists' relationships to their day jobs and investigate the effects on artistic practices. Although what an artist does to make a living is typically cast as something that detracts from his or her ability to focus on artistic practices, a generative relationship can also exist. The works in the exhibit look at the ways in which the information, skills, ideas, working conditions or materials encountered on the job contribute to creative output. The exhibit also investigates how contemporary artists support themselves in an economic climate that often demands particularly diverse and flexible solutions to stay afloat. Featured artists include Ashley Anderson, Mac Balentine, Christopher Chambers, Sarah Emerson, Lane Ketner, Michael David Murphy, Valentina Custer O’Roark, Monet Taylor and others.
