Description
For those that like text message notifications click here to see my message board topic on this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for any new members that are not aware of the Challenge Matches and the numbers beside the names, you can just ignore it for now and proceed with the below standard event details. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Standard Event details: playing some casual tennis... doesn't matter how good or bad you are. You don't have to come with anyone, you can come alone and feel welcome as if friends. Even if all you need is a ball return mechanism then well, this does the trick! No matter how dark and gloomy it seems outside, it doesn't matter, its always bright as can be out on the courts. Its cooling off outside so you do need to dress warmly, but don't over do it. You'll warm up quick. Keyword here is "layers". :) You don't need an official tennis outfit... LO really L. We've had people show up in outfits straight from work. lo not-so l. No big deal. :)We've got some hardcore tennis buffs in the group that'll play any chance they get, and more to the point no one here cares what anyone wears anyway. lol Ladies: half the team is female but most of you don't sign up for an event because you don't want to be the only female... so guess what happens when most others feel this way. However, just about every event we've had at least one of you show up, and those that come to an event generally continue to do so...BUT it would be much more normalized if more of you showed up. So I say to the ladies out there that don't want to be the only one: just click "maybe" and if enough of you hit the "maybe" then consider changing it to a "yes". Of course a "maybe" doesn't indicate that you are one of those afraid to go it alone, but merely indicates that you may or may not be there regardless of reason. I understand the randomness of life makes all "Yes" replies to still be in reality just a "maybe", but if you feel 75% chance of expecting to make it then feel free to change it to a "Yes". Just bring something to drink, a tennis racket, a little energy... and a good sense of humor is always fun. Also- I have to pay the court fees, site fees, time&energy fees, so $6 is requested! Meet some folks, get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors. Don't be lazy or scared just submit/click/play tennis. :) There are plenty of breaks for opportunities to leave or sit out or get some water etc. After we all hit the ball back and forth a couple times it'll become more obvious of skill levels and we can branch off accordingly. However, my skill level is rather sporadic. Sometimes I play like 2.0 and sometimes I play like 4.0... so it mostly depends on who I'm playing and the intensity of my focus. I consider myself barely a 3.0, and that seems to be about the level of most in the group, and with several people lower and several higher. Also-I'm very open to ideas for future events, just give me a when/where and I'll check into it. Or better yet, post it up here: http://www.meetup.com/AtlantaTennis/calender/suggest/ Check out the MB for all the latest: http://www.meetup.com/AtlantaTennis/messages/boards/
