Description
Daily, 7 a.m.to dusk. YRE 1142 begins at Sunset Beach trailhead of the Fort-to-Sea trail. Walk 5k to halfway point of Fort-to-Sea trail and return; then to an observation point on the Pacific Ocean beach, where you can see Tillamook Rock Lighthouse if it is clear. Route crosses Skipanon River, passes a golf course, a pioneer church & cemetery. Approximates last part of route that Lewis & Clark took from their winter headquarters (Fort Clatsop) to the Pacific Ocean. Carry water. Vault toilet available in parking area. You might want mosquito repellent during summer months.
