Whatever you call them the short films nominated every year are exciting previews of new generations of film makers and there’s plenty to please discerning audiences. The Live Action Shorts nominees are Pentecost (Irish Film Board) – a young boy rebels against his father an community. Raju (India) – a surprise visit to old friends is far from welcome. The Shore (UK) – two boyhood best friends divided by 25 years of misunderstanding. Time Freak (USA) – a neurotic inventor creates a time machine and gets lost. Tuba Atlantic (Norway) – a huge horn stands at the edge of the sea. Will its sound cross the Atlantic? Program lasts about 2 hours. NR
