The Zealots

urrently, The Zealots are George Terry, Aaron Price, and Caleb Beissert. Many friends have contributed and are continuing to offer their craftsmanship to the new songs either in the studio or live. By late summer of 2011, a new record will be available with guests, Mike Rhodes of Blue Rags fame-drums, Pete James of The Honeycutters-guitar, Shane Pruitt-guitar, Matthew Smith-pedal steel, helping out at Collapseable Studios, along with others.
As is the case with “Feast or Famine”, Aaron Price is producing and engineering the record. His former partner, Bill Reynolds, now of Band of Horses fame, co-produced “Feast”, played bass and introduced George to Aaron. Reynolds and Rhodes, along with Matt Kinne of Menage- on guitar and bass, were the original band as constructed in Asheville in 2002. Mick Glasgow, now of Rose Familiar, was the drummer for several years as well. All of these artists and more are great friends and Zealots eternally, giving endless hours of their time to these projects.
Antique Firearms

Brothers Bradan and Parker Dotson finalized the plans to unite and start their indie rock band “Antique Firearms” while in a bar in the Netherlands. Once they were back in the U.S. from their travels, they met up in Asheville, NC, to start writing their debut album.
The brothers recorded and mixed a four song E.P. called “Empty Frames” in a single day at First Class Studios in Fuquay-Varina NC, at the end of 2010. The E.P. was released for free online and showcased the range of styles and sounds the band was capable of, highlighted by Bradan’s haunting voice and Parker’s eclectic guitar licks. The self-titled full length album (released in April 2011 on Honey Badger Records) stays true to the experimental rock tone set by the E.P. The album also features an electronic undertone created by Hip-Hop Producers “Prophet” and “W2” who produced the album with the Dotsons. The musical talents of the third and final Dotson brother Galen were tapped into on a couple tracks and he has recently become a permanent addition to the group. The band covers a lot of ground over this ten track album, fearlessly mixing up a sonic cocktail that is as potent as it is smooth, ending with a “rootsy” track called “Carolina” recorded in Weaverville by producer/multi-instrumentalist Matt Williams. The album is next to impossible to pigeonhole, making one inclined to simply go with the line “You just have to hear it”.
9pm. $8 at the door.
