This will be a unique opportunity for this community to come together and be supported: highlighting local artists and music acts that consistently exhibit great talent and potential but are less recognized, giving them the opportunity to share their talents with a wider audience. In collaboration with their friends at Sly Grog Lounge, a downtown private club and indoor/outdoor music venue, Sunday May 20th 2018 will see the first annual Legacy of Dreamers Arts & Music Fest.

Supporting the ground roots of this community is what brought founding members of Arbitrary Categories, Tyler Ladd and John Gernandt together to collaborate on this project. They recognize the amazing creative wellspring that draws people to Asheville and feel a need to recognize, represent, encourage and support the diversely talented artists and musicians of our region. Being part of this community themselves, they have found the process of finding venues in which to sell, show, or play to be economically challenging. The desire to showcase their artwork and music while also providing the same outlet for their equally talented contemporaries inspired them to establish their own event.

Tyler Ladd is an Asheville resident who has lived in North Carolina most of his life while also traveled the U.S. and Europe making art and music everywhere he goes.

John Gernandt, a multi-instrumentalist, ballad singer, and multi-media artist, and has lived in Asheville for over 20 years with a long history of providing the community with traditional and experimental music. His current project, with his daughter Yssabel Gernandt, is Voice of the Sidhe & Hope Huntington.
