Join us for the sixth annual Freeze Your Gizzard Cross Country 5K and 1 mile fun run at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. You can run or walk and you still have more than 3 months to get ready for it! Registration Closing Date Thursday, November 20, 2008 @ 5:00 PM Our Charity Beneficiary in 2006 more than 6,000 Loudoun County residents were provided food by Loudoun Interfaith Relief, the largest food pantry in Loudoun County. Loudoun Interfaith Relief also provides support to homeless shelters, low-income senior citizen centers, and after school programs for at-risk children. The goal of Loudoun Interfaith Relief is to eliminate hunger in the County. Monetary donations for Loudoun Interfaith Relief accepted online or at the event. Race Categories Thanksgiving-themed food prizes will be awarded to the top one male and female overall winners in the 5K. Prizes will also be awarded to the fastest three males and females in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20- 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 60 - 59, and 60 - 99. All 1 mile participants will be entered in a raffle for ten turkeys. Registration Details 5K entry fee is $20 plus two cans of food to be brought to the race for Loudoun Interfaith Relief, $25 on race day. 1 mile fun run entry fee is $10 plus two cans of food, $15 on race day. Amenities 5K registrants will receive a long sleeve t-shirt. One mile fun run participants will receive a finishers medal at the finish line. The course runs through a scenic cross country course traversing Ida Lee's 138 acre park. Late Registration & Packet Pickup The Friday, November 21 packet pick up has been cancelled. Packet pickup and last minute registration will be on race day from 7 am until 8:50 am at the gazebo in the front field of Ida Lee Park. Post-race Celebration and door prizes The Town of Leesburg, Parks and Recreation Department and Loudoun Interfaith Relief will host a post-event celebration at the Gazebo that includes refreshments and the awards ceremony. Directions From the beltway (Route 495), follow the Dulles Toll Road west (exit 45A) to the Dulles Greenway. Take Exit 1A Leesburg Route 7 west. Do not merge, stay in the exit lane and take the exit to Leesburg Route 15 Business North (King Street.) Drive less than two miles on King Street until you see the signs for event parking. The field parking will be on the left. Parking can only be accessed from King Street, not from Ida Lee Drive. ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 5K race. The system uses a computer tag which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable.
