Topic: “The Arts Are Alive and Well in Fairfax County”


Speaker: Ms. Ann Rodriguez, President of The Arts Council of Fairfax County, Annandale, VA.
About Ms. Ann Rodriguez: Ms. Ann Rodriguez is President & CEO of the Arts Council of Fairfax County.  She accepted this position in the summer of 2004 after a long career as a business owner in Fairfax County.  A 32-year year resident of Reston, Virginia, Ms. Rodriguez is active in numerous local arts, civic and business communities. In 2005, she was named to the Board of Directors of Virginians for the Arts, a statewide arts advocacy organization, and the Board of Directors of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington.  She is also a 2002 recipient of the prestigious Best of Reston award, a past Chair of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, a 1998 graduate of Leadership Fairfax and for ten years hosted “Business Focus”, a TV show seen on Comcast and Cox cable channels.  Currently she hosts “Health Focus” seen on the same stations.  Ms. Rodriguez has one son, Paco, an artist, living in Brooklyn, New York.
About the Arts Council:  The Arts Council of Fairfax County, established in 1964, is a non profit agency that serves as the voice of the arts in the County.  Through partnerships with Fairfax County Public Schools, individual artists and other cultural and community organizations, the Arts Council represents over 140 arts organizations and thousands of individual artists.  In May of 2006, the Arts Council was presented with $500,000 for their grants program.  The Arts Council’s signature event is the regionally acclaimed International Children’s Festival at Wolf Trap, celebrating its 39th anniversary in September, 2008.
