Description
Twenty-two years ago Bob Rozinski & Wendy Shattil's book, Valley of the Cranes brought the unique beauty of the San Luis Valley to national attention, and their extraordinary follow-up book Valley of the Dunes far surpasses it. Perhaps no other photographers know the region's magical landscape and wildlife as well as this award-winning photographic team. Exclusive access to The Nature Conservancy's Medano-Zapata Ranch provide unique viewpoints of incomparable scenery in the vicinity of Great Sand Dunes National Park. With the guidance of Bob and Wendy, the workshops will help you discover and document some very memorable experiences on film, digital, or video. Fall is the optimum time for weather and color in the San Luis Valley. Photograph trackless dunes and distinctive perspectives of 750' high sand dunes in optimum light, shoot multicolored aspen and cottonwood groves, and capture scenic expanses including 14,000' peaks. Macro and landscape photography are of primary interest, but we'll take advantage as opportunities occur for bison herds and wildlife images. Fall leaves in whirlpool This is a unique opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to improve personal vision, expand creativity, and experiment with new techniques. Each day offers individualized instruction and guidance. We'll download digital images on-the-spot for viewing either on computer or via projection. Participants should be prepared for moderately strenuous activity on uneven terrain. Photo instruction, critique of participants' previous work, and equipment demonstrations are included. The five day workshop begins at 6:00 pm Wednesday and ends at noon Sunday. The workshop is all inclusive, with excellent accommodations at the historic Medano-Zapata Ranch, sumptuous meals, workshop materials, and transportation provided during the duration of your stay.
