If you are new to the group - welcome! No experience is necessary, we can teach you the essentials. EarthTreks will ask you to sign a waiver when you first come in. If you're an experienced climber, ask the person at the front desk to take their belay test. There's no fee for our group, but Earth Treks charges $18 for a day pass. If you need a harness and shoes, you can rent them ($5 each). They also have memberships and various other deals. If you're new to climbing - that's great! We can teach you what you need to climb in the gym. You won't be able to belay on your first day, but we have plenty of experienced people who can belay. EarthTreks has some good information on their FAQ page, including a picture of how top-rope climbing works. Wear clothing that won't restrict your movement - think what you would wear for yoga. How to find us The gym is in the Marlo building (visible from Rockville Pike), and the entrance is in the back near the loading dock. It's near the Rockville metro station. Earth Treks has directions here. Past the front desk, there are some benches and cubbies - that's where we usually meet. Look for me - I'm usually wearing green cargo shorts - and say hi.
