FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

When should I arrive and what time is the Ceremony?

Graduates must be checked in at Santa Anita no later than 9:00 am. Allow at least 30 minutes to complete the check in process after your arrival. Prior to the commencement ceremony students will take a group picture

How long is the ceremony?

The Commencement Ceremony begins promptly at 11:00 am and lasts approximately 1 ½ hours.

What do I need to wear?

• Culinary Arts/Patisserie & Baking Graduates
  • Clean and Pressed White Culinary Jacket
  • Black Pants
  • Solid Black Dress Shoes

• Hospitality & Restaurant Management Program
  • Academic Uniform
    • Blazer
    • Matching Vest
    • White Shirt/Blouse
    • Grey Pants/Skirt
    • Black Shoes with Black Socks/Stockings

Students not in correct uniform may not participate in the ceremony.

Where do we Park?

Parking is available at the Santa Anita Race Track/Los Angeles Turf Club

Graduates: Arrive at Gate 8 (located off of Baldwin Avenue)

Guests: Arrive at Gate 3 (located off of Huntington Drive)

Race Track Staff will guide you in the right direction once you've entered.

Parking is FREE of charge.

Where do Graduates go?

Please report to the 'Sign In' Table located just inside the gates at the main entrance. Here you will check in, receive a 'Reader's Name Card', and receive LCB medallion and honor cords. Honor cords are distributed as follows:

'Exemplary Attendance' cords (Red)

'High Honors' cords (Gold) (3.75-4.00)

'Honors' cords (Silver) (3.50-3.74)

Please contact the Registrar via e-mail (LCBLA-Registrar@la.chefs.edu), prior to the ceremony regarding your eligibility for honor cords. If you are not on our list for these awards, you will not receive one at the ceremony!

Where do Guests go?

Front gates to Santa Anita Race Track open at 9:00 am. Guests may arrive anytime after 9:00 am. We suggest that guests arrive no later than 10:30. There is no limit to the number of guests a student may invite and there are no tickets required for admission.

What should I do with my Valuables?

Please leave all valuables (purses, wallets, jackets, etc.) with your family. There is NOT a secure place in the Graduate Area for your valuables during the ceremony.

Will there be Photo Opportunities?

West Star Digital will be taking photographs of the graduates. Guests are asked to stay in their seats until after the ceremony has concluded for additional photograph opportunities. There will be a group photo available for purchase on the day of commencement after the ceremony. For additional information, please visit http://www.WestStarDigital.com

Individual graduation photos are also available during the Graduation Galas. Please check your local campus for more information.

Ticket Information:

For your convenience, tickets will not be required for admission and there is no charge for admission.

Personal Information/Eligibility:

It is your responsibility to make sure your file is up to date and complete. This also includes your exit interview forms with all of the required signatures.

You must have completed all of the graduation requirements prior to graduation, including all of the required externship hours.
