The Pulitzer Prize winning comey is about an affable man Elwood P. Dowd and his immaginary friend Harvey,a six foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall rabbit. When Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, to guest at a society party, his siter, Veta, has seen as much of hia eccentric behavor as she can tolerate. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter, Myrtle Mae, and their family from future embarrasssment.
