Description
WEATHER: Here in the darkest days of winter lets be practical about going out at 6 AM. A few of us have discussed temperatures and decided that if the temp at Service High is LESS THAN 5 DEGREES we will cancel on any given day --- for these Monday & Thursday events. Each morning while it is cold, check the NOAA web site MESONET page for the temperature at Service High. If it is below 5 degrees when you check IN THE MORNING, the 6 AM MeetUp is automatically CANCELLED for that morning. --------- Brrrrr -------------- Brrrrrrr ----------------- Brrrrrrrrr ----- Bbbrrrbbrrrr- WHAT: Classical or skate ski for 45 - 60 minutes on snowy hillside trails. WHEN: 6 AM meeting. We'll keep it short enough to be gone by 7 or even a few minutes before if participants want. Be there a minute or 2 BEFORE 6 AM so we can start no later than 1-2 minutes after the hour. WHERE: Abbott Road - Lighted Loop parking lot- now that there is enough snow to groom ski trails we will have to use the Multi-Purpose trails if we want to walk and bring dogs. DETAILS: - South Anch location for short, BRISK morning ski --- if we have dogs we will go to the Multi trail; w/o dogs we will ski the lighted loop and maybe Double Bubble type stuff. - Some mornings are surprisingly warm so do not over-dress; dress lightly &/or in layers. - We adjust the pace to who comes along. BRING: - Skis & the appropriate length poles (easy pace; no pressure -- come learn if you want) - Water - Small pack to shed layers into as you warm up - HEADLAMP We typically do not use them but . . . for safety DOGS: Yes, but be aware we have to stay on Multi-purpose trails if we bring the K-9s. Bring a leash and dog-drop-bags. CONTACT: Doug Van Etten 244-6610
