PLAYING OFF-LEASH: Exploring the Sources of Creativity and Passion with David Anderson of Walking the dog Theater Tuesday, March 27 from 7-9 pm Course fee: $40 What does it take to be fully alive and engaged in a vibrant conversation with life? We will explore this question with the dramatic tools of movement, language, speech, and improvisation. By learning to tap deeply into our individual creative impulse, we will connect with our inner source of energy, passion, and flexibility and engage more fully with the creative forces that shape our lives. Through activities that re-awaken the stream of our own life forces, we are able to identify and overcome blocks in our development and open up to something larger than ourselves. We will do this by working with the physical space we inhabit, playing with our language and speech, and by combining movement and speech in dramatic improvisational exercises. As we interact with one another through these activities, we will gain an empowering sense of what a group of people can create together. This course will be tailored to the specific interests of its participants. DAVID ANDERSON is currently playing in the Off-Broadway production of Chekhovek. He recently played Man in The Lost Frontier of America for Walking the dog Theater (WTD) and Claire in Genet's The Maids for New Stage Theatre in Pittsfield. Last summer he played the Stage Manager in and directed Our Town for WTD/PS21. In 2009 he played Anton Chekhov in I Take Your Hand In Mine and Malvolio in Twelfth Night for WTD. Favorite roles include: Hamlet in the collaborative production of Hamlet a performance The Independent gave Best Male Actor for 2007; Pale in Burn This, Sceparnio in the U.S. Premiere of The Storm, and Roxane in Cyrano. He annually performs a one-man A Christmas Carol, tours with The Gospel of John, and is a member of WTD's OFF LEASH! Improv Ensemble. For film: lead roles in Coda, Understudy, Various States of Repose, Sky, and Within A Forest. He has directed over 30 productionseleven Shakespeare plays and, recently, WTD's Eurydice, Painting Churches, and Julius Caesar (with inmates at the Greene County Correctional Facility, as part of WTD's Prison Outreach Program). David has published poetry and written three plays: The Lost Son, Walking the dog, and The Lost Frontier of America. He serves as Executive Artistic Director for WTD (www.wtdtheater.org).
