Description
Hours are Mon-Sat, 7am-8pm, Sun 7am-7:30 pm, Thanksgiving 11 am- 7pm.Closed Thanksgiving morning and Christmas. Trail goes through Amana and Middle Amana, two of the historic Amana Colonies and incorporates most of the Amana Kolonieweg, a recreational trail that circles a lake and connects the two villages. The Amana Colonies are a National Historic Landmark: over 400 buildings in the villages are listed as part of the landmark. The Colonies feature Iowa's only woolen mill, wineries, meat shops, a brewery, bakeries, unique museums relating to the history of the communal living in the early Colonies. The trail is mostly flat and on paved surfaces, though one section is crushed limestone.
