This course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a pool environment to entry-level lifeguard participants. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Course content includes patron and facility surveillance, victim recognition, equipment-based rescues, and caring for head, neck, and back injuries. This course includes certification in First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Participants must be 15 years old on or before the last day of the class. Proof of age will be required at the start of class.
