Tracing Your Civil War Ancestors at Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site

Commemorate the Civil War Sesquicentennial by finding out about your Civil War ancestors! Archives specialists Constance Potter and Katherine Vollen will review some of the many Union and Confederate records and resources for researching Civil War ancestors, and provide guidelines for how to get started. In their illustrated presentation, the speakers will cover record searches for Civil War servicemen in the army and navy, including military service and pension records, enlistment registers, rendezvous reports, and cartographic records. Constance Potter is a reference archivist at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C. Katherine Vollen is an Archives Specialist in the Research Support Branch of the National Archives. Both speakers specialize in Federal records of interest to genealogists. Cost for the lecture is $10 per person, and reservations are suggested due to limited seating.
