“Love, Politics & Scrabble: The Games People Play” promises to bring fun and games to the Del Ray Artisans’ gallery beginning with the opening reception on Friday, February 3, 2012, from 7 to 10 pm. This juried exhibit invited artists to depict any of the numerous games people play throughout life. The show was open to all area artists and all media is represented. The exhibit continues until February 26.In conjunction with the show, the gallery is housing a fine art and fine craft Marketplace filled with art-to-go for the entire length of the exhibit. And since February is the month for love, Del Ray Artisans’ trademark handmade Valentine cards will be for sale until Valentine’s Day.
The community is invited to ‘get their game on’ at Art Games on Friday, February 10, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm where Art Bingo will be played after an artful mixer game. A $7.00 donation is requested and light refreshments will be served. Adults 18 and older.
On Saturday, February 25, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, join us for Game Talks, where local experts will present short talks on several interesting games played in life. The talks will be followed by a creative game experience. Light refreshments provided. Adults 18 and over. Free.
The “Love, Politics, and Scrabble: The Games People Play” exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans gallery at the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays, 12 noon to 6 pm; Fridays, 12 noon to 9 pm; Saturdays, 10 am to 9 pm; and Sundays, 12 noon to 6 pm. The gallery is free, open to the public and handicap accessible.
