Event details: ALL-BEETHOVEN Concert with guest pianist Yuliya Gorenman
Description
The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra's 2009-2010 season includes an exciting all-Beethoven concert at 8 p.m. Sat., Feb. 13. A matinee will be at 3 p.m. Sun., Feb. 14.
The selections include the erratic and unique composer’s "Prometheus Overture" and Symphony No. 6, "Pastorale." Piano soloist Yuliya Gorenman will be featured on Piano Concerto No. 4.
Gorenman, who has been called "a pianist without fear," is the perfect artist to perform music by Beethoven, who was greatly respected for continuing to create after becoming deaf at the mid-point of his career. Gorenman is professor of piano and musician-in-residence at the American University in Washington, D.C.
Tickets are $20-$80. Youth tickets (ages 8-18) are only $5! Tickets can be purchased online at www.alexsym.org or by phone at 703-548-0885. Concerts are performed at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on the Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria campus, 2001 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
