This is a popular winter hike to a peak overlooking the Bosque Del Apache Wildlife Refuge South of Socorro. The trailhead is on the way to the Bosque Del Apache. After the hike, we will visit the wildlife refuge and watch the birds fly-in ($5 per vehicle fee, no charge with Golden Age or America the Beautiful pass), then stop for dinner in Socorro. Please be prepared with appropriate footwear, layered clothing, plenty of water, lunch and snacks. There always seems to be a cold wind when I do this hike.
