Description
Tuberculosis (once the leading cause of death in America) brought thousands to New Mexico. These health seekers flocked to its mountains and deserts. By 1920, these patients comprised an estimated ten percent of New Mexico’s population. When New Mexico finally achieved statehood in 1912, thirty sanatoriums had been built, and another thirty would be established in the decades that followed. Come to learn about “chasing the cure” in New Mexico through UNM Continuing Education on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, from 9:30-11:30am. Tuition is $20. For more information contact Joan Cok at 277-0563.
Cost
$20
